Sophisticated new rooftop bar on Calle Madre de Dios with cocktails and city views

Well&Come is one of the newer hotel rooftops in Málaga's Old Town, on Calle Madre de Dios, the same street as Terraza La Merced.

The rooftop bar is open to the public from 7pm in summer (winter hours may vary). There's a pool up here too, but that's hotel guests only, no day passes.

The vibe is sophisticated. It's a good spot for evening cocktails with views across the city rooftops.

Best For

  • Evening cocktails with cathedral and city views
  • Couples wanting a sophisticated drink spot
  • Hotel guests who get pool access during the day
  • Anyone looking for a newer, less crowded rooftop

Not Ideal For

  • Alcazaba views (you get the cathedral, not the fortress)
  • Budget drinkers, cocktails are €12-16
  • Daytime visits if you're not a hotel guest (bar opens at 7pm)

The Vibe

Sophisticated but not uptight. The space is modern and clean, with the pool as the centrepiece and comfortable seating around it.

During the evening, the lighting is good, the music is at conversation level, and the crowd is generally well-dressed without being overly formal. It feels like a grown-up rooftop bar rather than a party spot.

Staff are friendly and the service is solid.

The View & Seating

You get views of the cathedral and across Málaga's rooftops. It's not the same angle as AC Palacio or the castle views at Alcazaba, but the cathedral is right there and the city panorama at sunset is worth the visit.

Seating options:

  • Lounge areas around the pool
  • Bar-height seating along the edge
  • Tables for groups

The best spots are along the terrace edge for sunset. Get there early if you want first pick.

How to Make a Reservation

Bar: Walk-ins welcome from 7pm. Reservations recommended for groups or weekend evenings.

Pool: Hotel guests only. No day passes.

Contact:

  • Book a stay through Well&Come

Sunrise at Gibralfaro Castle

Watch the sun rise over Malaga from the highest point in the city. The views stretch from the bullring to the port and beyond.

The castle opens at 9am, but staying at the Parador gives you access to the terrace at dawn - before anyone else arrives.

Where to Stay

Parador de Malaga Gibralfaro - The only hotel with direct castle access. Wake up and walk straight onto the terrace for sunrise.

Dress Code

Smart casual. You don't need to dress up, but leave the flip-flops and football shirts at the hotel.

What works:

  • Smart casual for the bar
  • Clean trainers or sandals are fine
  • Sundresses, linen shirts, that sort of thing

What doesn't:

  • Gym gear
  • Scruffy or torn clothing
  • Bare feet outside the pool area

Access & Getting There

Finding the entrance: Enter through the Well&Come Hotel at Calle Madre de Dios 19 and take the lift to the rooftop.

By foot: In Málaga's Old Town, on the same street as Terraza La Merced. Walking distance from the Alcazaba and the cathedral.

Our Verdict

A solid new addition to Málaga's rooftop scene. It's not trying to compete with the big-view hotel rooftops like AC Palacio or Lolita Skyview, but it fills a gap for a sophisticated evening drink spot in the Old Town.

If you're staying at the hotel, the pool during the day is a bonus. If you're not, it's still worth popping up for a cocktail after 7pm.

Best for: Evening cocktails, couples, hotel guests wanting pool access.

Skip if: You want Alcazaba or castle views, or you're looking for a daytime rooftop without staying at the hotel.

Stay at Well&Come for pool access and the convenience of the lift home after sunset drinks.
