Sophisticated new rooftop bar on Calle Madre de Dios with cocktails and city views

Well&Come is one of the newer hotel rooftops in Málaga's Old Town. It sits on Calle Madre de Dios, the same street as Terraza La Merced.

I went up on a warm evening expecting another generic hotel terrace. I got a quiet, grown-up cocktail spot that most visitors haven't found yet.

The catch is the timing. The bar only opens to the public from 7pm in summer, so there's no popping up for a midday drink unless you're staying here. Winter hours shift, so call ahead off-season.

There's a rooftop pool up here too, but that's hotel guests only, with no day passes.

Below I cover where to find it, the vibe after dark, what you'll pay, the cathedral-facing views, and whether it's worth your evening.

Best For

  • Evening cocktails with cathedral and city views
  • Couples wanting a sophisticated drink spot
  • Hotel guests who get pool access during the day
  • Anyone looking for a newer, less crowded rooftop

Not Ideal For

  • Alcazaba views (you get the cathedral, not the fortress)
  • Budget drinkers, cocktails are €12-16
  • Daytime visits if you're not a hotel guest (bar opens at 7pm)

Where Is Well&Come Rooftop Bar?

Well&Come sits on the roof of the Well&Come Hotel at Calle Madre de Dios 19, in Málaga's Old Town. Enter through the hotel lobby and take the lift to the top.

You're a few minutes' walk from the cathedral and the Alcazaba. The street runs east of Plaza de la Merced, so you can fold a drink here into an evening around the old town's plazas.

It's a small, residential old-town street rather than a landmark address. Use the hotel as your marker. If you reach Terraza La Merced, you've gone too far.

The Vibe

Sophisticated but not uptight. The space is modern and clean, with the pool as the centrepiece and low seating wrapped around it.

I came on a Thursday around 8pm and got a lounge spot with no wait. By half-nine it had filled with couples and small groups, never a crowd.

The lighting is dim and warm after dark. Music stays at conversation level, so you can actually talk. The crowd dresses well without trying too hard, and it reads as a grown-up drinks spot rather than a party.

One caveat: it's compact. On a busy weekend the best edge seats go fast, so arrive near opening if you want them. Staff are friendly and the service kept pace even as it filled.

Opening Hours

Bar Hours (Summer, open to the public):

  • Daily: 7:00 PM – 11:30 PM

Note: Winter hours may differ, check with the hotel directly. The pool is for hotel guests only, no day passes.

Drinks:

  • Cocktails: €12-16
  • Wine by the glass: €6-12
  • Premium spirits: €10-18
  • Fresh juices and smoothies: €6-9
  • Beer: €4-6

Food:

  • Mediterranean sharing plates: €12-18
  • Bowls and salads: €14-18
  • Light bites and snacks: €8-14

Not cheap, but in line with other upscale hotel rooftops in Málaga.

The View & Seating

The view faces the cathedral and the terracotta sweep of Málaga's rooftops. The cathedral tower sits close enough to anchor every photo, with the old town's roofline falling away behind it.

It's not the fortress angle. If you specifically want the Alcazaba in frame, La Terraza de la Alcazaba has that view and this one doesn't. What you get here is the cathedral and a wide western sky that turns gold at sunset.

Seating options:

  • Lounge areas around the pool
  • Bar-height seating along the edge
  • Tables for groups

The edge seats face the best of the light, so claim one early. Sunset in summer lands close to 9.30pm, well after the 7pm opening, which gives you time to settle in first.

How to Make a Reservation

Bar: Walk-ins welcome from 7pm. Reservations recommended for groups or weekend evenings.

Pool: Hotel guests only. No day passes.

Contact:

  • Book a stay through Well&Come

Sunrise at Gibralfaro Castle

Watch the sun rise over Malaga from the highest point in the city. The views stretch from the bullring to the port and beyond.

The castle opens at 9am, but staying at the Parador gives you access to the terrace at dawn - before anyone else arrives.

Where to Stay

Parador de Malaga Gibralfaro - The only hotel with direct castle access. Wake up and walk straight onto the terrace for sunrise.

Smart casual. You don't need to dress up, but leave the flip-flops and football shirts at the hotel.

  • Sundresses, linen shirts, that sort of thing

What doesn't:

Our Verdict

A solid new addition to Málaga's rooftop scene. It isn't chasing the big-panorama crowd like AC Palacio or Lolita Skyview. Instead it fills a real gap: a calm, sophisticated evening drink in the Old Town, away from the busier terraces.

What sold me was the quiet. I had cathedral views and a proper cocktail without queuing or shouting over a DJ.

Staying at the hotel makes the daytime pool a bonus. If you're not, it's still worth the lift up for a drink after 7pm. For where it ranks against the rest, see my guide to the best rooftop bars in Málaga.

Best for: Evening cocktails, couples, hotel guests wanting pool access.

Skip if: You want Alcazaba or castle views, or you're looking for a daytime rooftop without staying at the hotel.

Stay at Well&Come for pool access and the convenience of the lift home after sunset drinks.
