City views, craft cocktails with burgers and pizzas, and a garden-inspired lounge vibe.
Le Rooftop sits atop the boutique Hotel Mariposa in Malaga's creative Soho district, offering a garden-inspired escape with panoramic city views and playful design touches.
This rooftop is open to the public, not just hotel guests, making it one of Soho's best-kept secrets.
What sets it apart is the whimsical attention to detail, from the techno giraffe sculpture to the outdoor shower for cooling off on hot days, despite there being no pool.

The Vibe
This rooftop is one of the most magical in Malaga. The garden-inspired design creates an urban oasis feel, with lush greenery, contemporary furniture, and those unexpected artistic touches that make the space genuinely memorable. It feels made for long nights relaxing above the city.
The atmosphere is social but never overwhelming. You'll find a mix of hotel guests, local creatives from the Soho neighbourhood, and in-the-know visitors who've discovered this hidden gem. The music is ambient and stylish, setting the mood without drowning out conversation.
By sunset, the terrace takes on a golden glow, and the cityscape views become even more impressive. It's the kind of place where you come for one drink and end up staying for the entire evening.

Opening Hours
- Sunday: 16:00 - 23:00
Opening times can change seasonally and depend on weather conditions, so checking their website or calling ahead is recommended, especially on weekdays.
Menu & Prices
Drinks
The menu is pricey, but you're paying for the setting and experience. Signature cocktails run between 12-16 euros, with a creative list that changes seasonally. Draft beers are around 5-6 euros, and there's a decent wine selection by the glass.
Food
The food menu is designed for rooftop grazing. Think elevated comfort food: gourmet burgers in the 14-18 euro range, wood-fired pizzas around 12-16 euros, and sharing platters perfect for groups. It's the sort of fare that pairs perfectly with drinks and doesn't require a formal sit-down dinner.

The View & Seating
Views of the cityscape are what's on offer here. Located in Soho, I love that this rooftop gives you an up-close look at some of the area's best street art and graffiti, with the cathedral and city skyline providing a stunning backdrop.
Seating options include:
- Sun loungers (even though there's no pool, they're perfect for relaxing)
- Large cushioned loungers designed for groups
- Intimate tables for couples
- Bar-side seating for quick drinks
- Varied seating zones that cater to different moods and group sizes
How to Make a Reservation
For the bar and terrace: Reservations are not strictly required but are highly recommended for evenings and weekends, especially during summer and high season.
Walk-ins: Always welcome, but seating is limited. Arrive early to secure the best spots, particularly if you want one of the coveted loungers with the best views.
You can book through their website or call the hotel directly. Mentioning a special occasion might help you snag a prime table.
Sunrise at Gibralfaro Castle
Watch the sun rise over Malaga from the highest point in the city. The views stretch from the bullring to the port and beyond.
“The castle opens at 9am, but staying at the Parador gives you access to the terrace at dawn - before anyone else arrives.”
Parador de Malaga Gibralfaro - The only hotel with direct castle access. Wake up and walk straight onto the terrace for sunrise.
Check AvailabilityDress Code
The vibe here is more relaxed than some of Malaga's upscale rooftops, but still has a stylish edge.
What works:
- Smart casual attire
- Stylish summer dresses
- Clean jeans with a nice top
- Fashionable sneakers or sandals
- Soho-appropriate creative looks
What doesn't work:
- Beachwear or swimwear
- Overly formal attire (you'd feel out of place)
- Scruffy or worn clothing
Access & Getting There
Enter through the main entrance of Hotel Mariposa Malaga, located just steps from the city centre in the heart of Soho. From the lobby, take the elevator to the rooftop level.
By foot: The hotel is centrally located in Soho, walkable from most city centre locations. Look for the street art-covered buildings nearby, and you'll know you're in the right area.
By car: Street parking in Soho can be challenging. The underground parking at Calle Alemania or near the Muelle Uno area is your best bet.
By public transport: Multiple bus lines serve the Alameda Principal area, which is a short walk away. The hotel is also accessible from the Maria Zambrano train station by foot or a quick taxi.

Our Verdict
Would we go back? Oh yes! It's a beautiful rooftop perfect for groups of friends, and its style makes it extremely Instagrammable. I love that they serve international favourites like burgers and pizzas as well as local dishes, because sometimes a pizza is exactly what you want, rooftop or not.
Best for: Design lovers, couples seeking a stylish sundowner, and anyone wanting to experience Soho's creative energy from above.
Skip if: You're on a strict budget or prefer traditional Spanish tapas over international comfort food.
This is one of my favourite local gems, and I highly recommend visiting Hotel Mariposa. The combination of thoughtful design, relaxed atmosphere, and city views makes it a standout in Malaga's rooftop scene.
