The most romantic rooftop bars in Malaga, picked by a local. From candlelit cathedral views to hilltop hideaways, where to go for date night.
Romantic rooftop bars in Malaga aren't hard to find, but the right one for your night takes some knowing.
I'm a romantic at heart, and finding the perfect rooftop for a night to remember is something special. The cathedral lit up at night, a warm breeze off the port, two gin tonics sweating on the table. That's the version of Malaga couples come looking for.
These are the six rooftops I'd actually book for a date night, each one different depending on what kind of evening you're after.
Should You Book a Rooftop Bar for Date Night in Malaga?
For drinks only, most rooftop bars in Malaga are walk-in. The AC Hotel Palacio and Vincci Larios Diez rarely turn people away at the bar.
Date nights are different though. I'd book a table if you're going on a Friday or Saturday in summer, especially at the Parador (it's small and fills by 20:00) or Lolita Skyview (everyone wants the sunset slot). A quick message through the hotel's website usually does it.
Arrive between 19:00 and 20:00 for the sweet spot. You'll catch golden hour, grab a table without queuing, and settle in before the crowd. For more general booking tips, see our guide to the best rooftop bars in Malaga.
Parador de Malaga Gibralfaro

This is the one you drive up a mountain for. Perched on Mount Gibralfaro next to the Castillo, the Parador de Málaga Gibralfaro rooftop bar delivers 180-degree panoramas of the city, the Mediterranean, and the Alcazaba below. It's the most secluded date spot on this list. No street noise, no passing crowds, just you and the view.

Sunrise at Gibralfaro Castle
Watch the sun rise over Malaga from the highest point in the city. The views stretch from the bullring to the port and beyond.
“The castle opens at 9am, but staying at the Parador gives you access to the terrace at dawn - before anyone else arrives.”
Parador de Malaga Gibralfaro - The only hotel with direct castle access. Wake up and walk straight onto the terrace for sunrise.

La Terraza Molina Lario

La Terraza Molina Lario sits on the 8th floor, closer to the cathedral than any other rooftop on this list. You're practically at eye level with the dome. The cocktail menu is creative, not the usual gin tonic lineup, and the terrace stays open until midnight on weekdays, 1am on weekends. It's the one I'd pick for a late-night drink after dinner somewhere in the old town.
Essential info

- Cosmopolitan and relaxed with a cocktail-bar energy

- Creative cocktail menu with signature drinks

La Terraza de San Juan Rooftop Bar

This is the most spacious rooftop on the list, which makes it the best pick if you don't want to feel squeezed in next to another couple's conversation.
La Terraza de San Juan sits above the Málaga Premium Hotel with two bars, lounge sofas, and close-up views of the illuminated Iglesia de San Juan. It's less polished than Lolita or the AC, but that's part of the appeal, relaxed enough that you actually talk rather than pose.
Essential info
- Vibe:
- Spacious yet cosy ambience that feels exclusive without being cramped
- Drinks:
- Two fully stocked bars serving cocktails and beers
- Food:
- Mediterranean bites
- Note:
- Generous layout with lounge sofas and greenery for intimate moments
