Chic Cocktail Bar. A tropical haven with harbour views and exotic drinks.

Nusa Cocktail Bar perches one level above the marina at Muelle Uno, bringing breezy, boho energy to Málaga's portside scene.

I came here on a hot June evening expecting another marina tourist trap. I left planning my next visit.

It's a cocktail bar first, with harbour views, handcrafted drinks, and the kind of laid-back luxe that keeps people coming back. Of all the cocktail bars in Málaga, this is the one I send friends to when they want a drink with their feet near the water.

The catch? It sits low, not high. If you want a towering terrace, you'll find better options in my guide to Málaga's rooftop bar scene.

Anyone can walk in, no reservations required. Just show up, grab a seat, and let the sea breeze do the rest. Below I cover the vibe, the cocktail menu and prices, the best seats for the view, and exactly how to find it.

Best For

  • Couples looking for a relaxed, boho-chic setting with sea views and sunset vibes
  • Groups of friends wanting spacious seating, shareable cocktails, and a laid-back atmosphere
  • Casual visitors to Muelle Uno who want a stylish spot to take a break from shopping or strolling
  • Golden hour lovers chasing that perfect mix of light, music, and harbour scenery
  • Instagrammers and design fans drawn to pod seating, macramé umbrellas, and coastal decor

Not Ideal For

  • Travellers expecting high-rise views
  • Anyone needing on-site food options
  • Families with restless young kids - the vibe leans more adult and mellow

The Vibe

Nusa brings relaxed island energy to the heart of Málaga's port. Pod-shaped seating nooks invite you to sink in and stay awhile, while macramé umbrellas cast dappled shade across sun-kissed tables. The aesthetic is coastal bohemian with an upscale twist.

The view isn't towering like some hotel rooftops, but it's all you need: yachts gliding past, palms swaying, and the Mediterranean shimmering just beyond. There's something hypnotic about watching boats come and go while nursing a colourful cocktail.

The crowd is mixed. Daytime brings families and couples seeking shade and refreshments. As evening sets in, the atmosphere shifts to something more romantic and mellow, with friends gathering around low tables and couples tucked into intimate corners.

Opening Hours

  • Monday - Thursday: 12:00 - 00:00
  • Friday - Saturday: 12:00 - 01:00
  • Sunday: 12:00 - 00:00

Hours can shift in the off-season, so it's worth checking their website before a winter visit.

Nusa is a cocktail bar first, and the drinks carry the whole experience. Signature cocktails run 10 to 14 euros, and the frozen tropical creations are as photogenic as they are easy to drink. The blue frozen one is the house favourite, and yes, I ordered two. Browse the full cocktail menu before you go if you like to plan.

Is Nusa expensive? A little, by Málaga standards. Budget around 20 to 30 euros per person once you factor in a couple of drinks. You're paying for the marina position, and on a sunset evening it earns it.

Nusa doesn't serve food. Plenty of harbour spots nearby handle that, and Cobalto 15 a few steps along Muelle Uno does proper sit-down meals if you want dinner after drinks.

The View & Seating

Bamboo cabanas and table seating with harbour views on the terrace at Nusa, Malaga

The harbour view is the main attraction here. You're looking out over Muelle Uno's marina, with yachts bobbing in the foreground and the Mediterranean stretching to the horizon. Look left and you'll catch the red-and-white La Farola lighthouse. Behind you, the Alcazaba and cathedral mark the old town skyline. Palms frame the whole scene.

Seating options include:

  • Spacious loungers and cushioned sofas for groups of three to four
  • Signature pod-shaped seating for intimate conversations and date nights
  • Classic setups with two single chairs and small tables facing each other
  • Tall round tables with high stools for a more casual perch

No matter where you sit, the open-air design keeps you close to the water, the swaying palms, and the breeze. For a higher vantage over the same stretch of marina, Cobalto 15 sits a short walk away with an elevated terrace.

One word of warning for daytime visits: it gets very hot. Bring a hat, a Spanish fan, and plenty of sunscreen if you're coming before the sun drops.

How to Make a Reservation

Do you need to book Nusa? No. The bar runs walk-in only, so there's no reservation system to worry about. Turn up, find a seat, order at the bar.

The trade-off is timing. Arrive 30 to 45 minutes before sunset on a weekend, or you'll be circling for a table while everyone else settles in with the good light.

Sunrise at Gibralfaro Castle

Watch the sun rise over Malaga from the highest point in the city. The views stretch from the bullring to the port and beyond.

The castle opens at 9am, but staying at the Parador gives you access to the terrace at dawn - before anyone else arrives.

Where to Stay

Parador de Malaga Gibralfaro - The only hotel with direct castle access. Wake up and walk straight onto the terrace for sunrise.

Dress Code

What works:

  • Casual beachwear during the day
  • Light layers and summer dresses
  • Relaxed but stylish attire in the evening
  • Swimwear covered up outside of daytime lounging

What doesn't work:

  • Uncovered swimwear at the bar
  • Overly formal attire (you'll be overdressed)

The vibe is family-friendly during the day but leans more adult and mellow in the evening. Dress for comfort with the sea breeze in mind.

Access & Getting There

Nusa sits on the level above the Muelle Uno parking area, reached by stairs or a lift straight from the car park. Once you're on the promenade, follow the signs up. With the Muelle Uno car park directly below, it's one of the easiest waterfront bars in the city to reach by car.

On foot it's a flat, pedestrian-friendly walk east of the port, a few minutes from the city centre and an easy stroll from Malagueta beach. Buses run along Paseo del Parque and stop nearby, and the Cercanías train at Centro Alameda leaves you about ten minutes out. The Centre Pompidou is right next door if you're making an afternoon of it.

One honest heads-up: there are no toilets at the bar itself. The nearest facilities are a roughly ten-minute walk into Muelle Uno, so plan your drinks accordingly.

Our Verdict

Would we go back? Already have, and probably will again the next time we're craving sea views and a blue frozen cocktail (seriously, what's in that thing?). Nusa is the kind of place you stumble into once and then find yourself recommending to everyone who visits.

Best for: Date nights with harbour views, friends seeking colourful cocktails, anyone wanting a tropical escape without leaving the city.

Skip if: You're looking for a food-focused experience or prefer historic old town views over modern marina scenery.

It's not the highest rooftop in Málaga, but sometimes the best views sit right at eye level with the sea. If you're arriving by ship, it's also one of the closest drinks stops to the terminal, which I cover in my guide to rooftop bars near the cruise port. Stay near Muelle Uno and make the most of Málaga's waterfront cocktail scene.
