Which Is the Best Rooftop Bar in Nerja?

The two most-searched rivals are Buddha and Volk's, a few doors apart on Calle de la Gloria. Buddha is bigger, busier, and built for a night out, with cocktails from €9. Volk's is smaller, cheaper (drinks from €6.50), and the mountain views beat Buddha's.

When's the Best Time to Visit a Nerja Rooftop Bar?

The best time is the hour before sunset, around 8pm in high summer. The light softens over the old town and the Sierra Almijara, and the rooftops cool down as the day's heat drops. Arrive by 7pm on a Friday or Saturday, before Buddha and Volk's fill up.

Most of these bars open in the early evening. Buddha runs 5pm to 2am (closed Wednesdays), Yesca's roof opens at 7pm, and Cochran's terrace serves from noon. Volk's keeps unpublished hours, so call ahead.

In winter, push that back to around 6pm, when the sun drops earlier behind the Sierra Almijara.

At La Puerta De Nerja Hostel on Calle Ánimas, Yesca delivers something no other Nerja rooftop matches: jacuzzis overlooking Plaza España with sea and mountain views.

During the day, Yesca operates as full-service restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner with Mediterranean and contemporary European focus.

But the real magic happens in the evenings when the rooftop bar opens (7pm-1am, until 2am Friday-Saturday) and you can soak in jacuzzis while watching sunset paint the hillside town in warm light.

The food quality receives generally positive reviews: tapas and Mediterranean dishes prepared well, though service can slow during busy periods.

Cocktails get mixed feedback, with some guests loving them and others finding them underwhelming. But the jacuzzi experience with sea and mountain views compensates for any drink inconsistencies.

3. Cochran's Terrace

Right next to Balcón de Europa in the Toboso complex, Cochran's Terrace combines familiar Irish pub comfort with sea views over the Mediterranean.

The spacious sea-facing terrace is an easy spot for unwinding with a pint and a wide horizon, while the Irish bar inside gives you an English-speaking, English-menu base steps from the Balcón.

The menu leans heavily toward pub fare where burgers and fries dominate, with limited traditional tapas options.

It's comfort food territory rather than culinary destination.
