Contemporary European restaurant with rooftop terrace featuring jacuzzis, sea and mountain views, and Mediterranean cuisine overlooking Plaza España.

No other rooftop in Nerja lets you soak in a jacuzzi while the sea turns gold below you. Yesca Restaurant & Rooftop Terrace is the one that does.

I came for dinner and stayed for the roof. By day it's a full contemporary European restaurant; after 7pm the top floor opens as a bar with jacuzzi access and sea-and-mountain views over Plaza España.

The catch is the price. Yesca sits above most Nerja bars on cost, and the cocktails get mixed reviews. The food and the soak are what justify the trip.

This page covers the vibe, the menu and prices, the rooftop jacuzzis, dress code, how to book, and where it lands against the other rooftop bars in Nerja.

Best For

  • Couples seeking romantic rooftop experiences with jacuzzi luxury
  • Special occasion dining with unique rooftop soaking afterwards
  • Contemporary European cuisine enthusiasts wanting elevated views
  • Those who appreciate sea and mountain panoramas simultaneously
  • Evening rooftop sessions combining cocktails with jacuzzi relaxation

Not Ideal For

  • Budget travelers - upscale positioning means premium pricing
  • Those seeking guaranteed fast service during busy periods
  • Cocktail purists (reviews are mixed on drink quality)
  • Anyone uncomfortable with shared jacuzzi spaces

Is Yesca a Rooftop Bar or a Restaurant?

It's both, and the answer depends on the hour. Yesca runs as a full-service restaurant from breakfast through dinner, then opens the roof as an evening bar with jacuzzis from 7pm.

Search results split the same way. Some people look for "Yesca restaurante" and want the dining room; others search "Yesca rooftop" and want the terrace. You can do either, or both in one evening: dinner downstairs, then drinks and a soak upstairs.

The rooftop is the part that sets it apart. Sea-view terraces like Cochran's Terrace exist in Nerja, but no one else has jacuzzis.

The Vibe

Bright interior bar with rattan pendant lights at Yesca in Nerja

Step inside and you're in contemporary European restaurant territory, not a beach bar. The room is polished and refined, with the boutique-hotel look La Puerta De Nerja carries through the property.

Then you go up. The roof flips the mood from smart dining to something closer to a small beach club, jacuzzis and loungers crammed onto a terrace in the middle of a historic town. It works because it's unexpected.

Reviews back the quality up. Yesca holds 4.5 on Restaurant Guru and 4.3 on Tripadvisor, with the food and the rooftop setting drawing the strongest praise. Go around 8pm to catch the last of the light before the terrace fills. For a calmer cocktails-only night, Terraza Buddha Lounge Bar in the old town is the quieter alternative.

The View & Rooftop Features

Aerial view of Yesca rooftop terrace and pool above Nerja with sea beyond

The terrace sits above Plaza España, high enough to clear the surrounding rooftops. That's what makes Yesca one of the few genuine sea-view bars in central Nerja.

What you see:

  • Sea views stretching across the Mediterranean
  • Mountain views toward Nerja's inland peaks
  • Plaza España directly below
  • Nerja's historic old town architecture
  • Sunset perspectives over the town

Rooftop Features:

  • Jacuzzis overlooking Plaza España (the unique selling point)
  • Terrace seating for drinks and relaxation
  • Lounge areas around the jacuzzis
  • Mix of sun and shaded zones
  • Intimate scale rather than massive terrace

The jacuzzis are the thing. Soaking with a drink in hand, sea on one side and the Sierra Almijara on the other, isn't an experience another Nerja rooftop can offer. Bring swimwear if you want to use them, and change on-site before heading up.

How to Make a Reservation

For restaurant dining: Reservations recommended, especially for:

  • Weekend dinners
  • Peak summer season
  • Groups of 4 or more

For rooftop bar: Generally more walk-in friendly, though summer evenings may fill quickly.

Walk-ins: Possible for rooftop bar during quieter periods, but calling ahead for jacuzzi access is wise during peak times.

Balcón de Europa at First Light

Experience Nerja's most famous viewpoint at dawn. Watch the sun rise over the Mediterranean from the clifftop balcony, with the rocky coves below and the Sierra Almijara mountains behind - all before the tour groups arrive.

The Balcón is accessible 24/7, but most visitors arrive after 9am. Stay within steps of the viewpoint and you'll experience it in complete solitude at sunrise.

Where to Stay

Parador de Nerja - Perched on the cliffs with direct access to the Balcón de Europa. Wake up, step outside, and you're already at Nerja's most iconic viewpoint.

Dress Code

Smart casual befitting the contemporary restaurant and boutique hotel setting.

What works:

  • Smart casual for dinner service
  • Resort elegant for rooftop bar
  • Swimwear for jacuzzi access (bring along or change on-site)
  • Evening: Stylish without being formal

What doesn't work:

  • Very casual beachwear for restaurant dining
  • Overly relaxed attire for dinner service

The boutique positioning calls for slight effort, though rooftop bar is more relaxed than restaurant.

Access & Getting There

Finding it: Yesca sits at La Puerta De Nerja Hostel on Calle Ánimas in central Nerja, close to Plaza España.

The venue is open to non-hotel guests. You don't need to be staying at La Puerta De Nerja to dine or use the rooftop bar.

Getting there:

  • From Balcón de Europa: 5-minute walk
  • From Nerja center: Walking distance throughout historic area
  • From Nerja bus station: 10-15 minute walk

Parking:

  • Public parking in Nerja center (limited, competitive in summer)
  • Street parking challenging in old town

Public transport:

  • Nerja bus station: Walking distance

Our Verdict

Yesca earns its spot on one feature no rival can copy: jacuzzis on the roof, sea and mountain views around them, in the middle of old Nerja. The contemporary European kitchen holds its own too, with a 4.5 on Restaurant Guru behind it.

It isn't flawless. Cocktails get mixed feedback, service can slow when the terrace is full, and the bill runs higher than the bars a few streets over. Go for the setting and the food, not a cheap night out.

Best for: couples and special occasions, anyone who wants dinner and a rooftop soak in one evening, and travellers chasing a sea-view bar in central Nerja.

Skip if: you're on a budget, you want guaranteed fast service at peak times, or you're a cocktail purist.

For a livelier, better-value pour nearby, Volk's Bar does generous cocktails with mountain views. See how all of them stack up in our best rooftop bars in Nerja guide.
