Panoramic sea views, chilled cocktails by the infinity pool, and a laid-back, adults-only vibe above the Costa del Sol.

Sky and Sea crowns the top floor of Meliá Costa del Sol, a 1,200-square-metre rooftop that swaps the beach below for a pool, Bali beds, and an open line of Mediterranean.

I came up on a July afternoon expecting a hotel pool and found something closer to a beach club in the sky. It's a 16-plus space, so the volume stays low and the pace stays slow.

The catch sits underneath you. This is a busy four-star hotel, and daytime access for non-guests depends on how full the rooftop already is.

This review covers who gets in, what's on the menu, the best seats for the view, the dress code, and how to reach the top floor.

  • Couples seeking romantic daytime luxury
  • Hotel guests wanting a chic sunbathing spot
  • Solo travellers who like peaceful views with a side of sangría

Not Ideal For

  • Families with kids
  • Party-goers (no nightlife or DJs)
  • Travellers on a strict budget

Is Sky and Sea Open to Non-Hotel Guests?

Yes, Sky and Sea is open to non-hotel guests, but entry depends on availability. The rooftop prioritises Meliá guests through the busy daytime hours, and casual visitors get in more reliably from the early evening.

It's a 16-plus terrace, so under-16s can't come up at all. There's no fixed entry fee, though you'll be expected to order from the bar or kitchen.

If you want a daytime lounger, call the hotel first or arrive at opening. For more options nearby, see our guide to the best rooftop bars in Torremolinos.

The Vibe

Sky and Sea is more than a rooftop bar; it's a full daytime escape.

Think oversized Bali beds, subtle palm accents, and wide-open sea views that blur the line between rooftop and shoreline. The design is clean and contemporary, with enough space to never feel crowded even on busy days.

Soft house music sets a chilled tone throughout the afternoon. The only real decision you'll face is spritz or sangria. This isn't a place for loud celebrations or late-night revelry. It's where you come to decompress, soak up sun, and watch the hours drift by.

The crowd tends toward couples and solo travellers seeking peace rather than parties. Staff are attentive without being intrusive, keeping glasses full and towels fresh.

The rooftop runs daily from 10:00 to 23:00, so it works for both a morning swim and a slow sunset spritz.

Opening Hours

  • Daily: 10:00 - 23:00

You can graze by the pool or sit down to a proper meal here, which surprised me on my first visit. The bar handles the loungers; a separate kitchen turns out a full menu when you want more than olives.

Drinks:

  • Mojitos, Aperol spritzes, and refreshing classics
  • Crisp wines and draft beer
  • Signature cocktails
  • Expect to pay €10-15 for cocktails

Food (poolside):

  • Mediterranean-style snacks designed for grazing
  • Guacamole with chips
  • Tuna tartare
  • Assorted olives
  • Light bites that don't require leaving your lounger

Restaurant menu:

  • A "World Flavors" fingerfood concept drawing on dishes from five continents
  • Sushi and fresh fish
  • Low-temperature grilled meats from a Japanese Kamado oven

The View & Seating

You're positioned directly above the Paseo Maritimo with an uninterrupted view of Torremolinos beach and the glittering coastline beyond. The Mediterranean stretches to the horizon, and on clear days the views seem endless.

  • Bali beds for couples and pairs
  • Cushioned loungers for sunbathers
  • High-top tables near the bar for shade seekers
  • Pool-edge seating for the best water views
  • No matter where you sit, the sea is always in sight

How to Make a Reservation

No reservations are needed for the bar and seating area. Walk-ins are welcome, but arriving early is wise for sunset or weekend seating, as the best spots fill up quickly.

Non-hotel guests can access the rooftop, but entry is subject to availability, especially during peak hours.

Morning at Pimentel Tower

This 15th-century watchtower is the symbol of Torremolinos and the origin of its name. The surrounding plaza comes alive in the morning with locals enjoying café con leche.

Visit early before the crowds and climb up for views of the coastline stretching to Málaga. The nearby Cuesta del Tajo steps lead down to the beach.

Where to Stay

Hotel MS Tropicana - Central location near the tower with rooftop pool views. Perfect base for exploring the old town.

Dress Code

The dress code evolves through the day, shifting from casual poolside to relaxed evening elegance.

What works:

  • Light resort wear and swim cover-ups during the day
  • Linen shirts, sundresses, and polished sandals in the evening
  • Relaxed but elevated style

What doesn't work:

  • Swimwear outside of poolside lounging (cover up when at the bar)
  • Overly casual or scruffy attire in the evening

Access & Getting There

The hotel sits on the beachfront promenade, within easy walking distance of the town centre. Parking is available at the hotel, and the Torremolinos train station is approximately 10 minutes away on foot.

Wi-Fi is available on the rooftop.

Our Verdict

Sky and Sea is where you go when you want the beach without the sand. The rooftop balances openness with calm, offering wide views, minimal noise, and space to simply be. It's not flashy, but it nails coastal cool in every way.

Best for: Couples and solo visitors seeking a polished, peaceful rooftop with pool access and sea views.

Skip if: You're travelling with children, looking for party energy, or watching your budget closely.

Bring sunglasses, order something cold, and don't plan anything afterwards. If a pool day is the real goal, compare entry options on our Torremolinos pool day pass guide, or read up on the livelier Barracuda Rooftop Bar down the coast.
